DAVID BROWN
LEVEL DESIGNER

Phylactery
Phylactery is a Dark, Turn-Based Dungeon Crawler. Using the resources you gain from dungeons you must rebuild your town and increase the strength of your party.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
For the duration of Phylactery I was a Gameplay Programmer. My responsibilities included:
-
Managing the Github repository and merge conflicts.
-
Ensuring scope is kept within a small team.
-
Assisting in setting up the framework for our 3 vs 3 battle system ("For The King" style combat)
-
Quickly prototyping our systems in blueprints for weekly supervisor check-ins.
-
Conducting retrospective and updating HackNPlan board after every sprint.
-
Working on damage numbers, types of damage and how it affects the AI.
NOTES ON RESPONSIBILITIES
-
As we had such a small team for our final project, I have gained knowledge in multiple different disciplines as each of us have had to fill more gaps during development.
-
Even though we are in a small team, we made sure that our repository was to be kept clean and without error. We decided upon using Git Flow as it allows for a more seamless version control experience. I have acted as a contact if someone has needed help with version control throughout the project.
-
With a game like this, there aren't hundreds of systems as the game revolves around the battle system. I have been working closely with the other programmer in the team to make a system that is easily added to and maintainable. There are still multiple iterations planned for the system, however it is currently in a good place.
